Questions about 0% VAT installation
Is it really 0% VAT?
Yes. HMRC zero-rates heat pumps when they are supplied and installed in a home. Our all-in-one units are heat pumps, so when we supply and install one, you pay 0% VAT on the unit and the installation. The zero rate runs until 31 March 2027.
Who qualifies?
Homes, including flats and rented property. The relief is for residential buildings, so offices, shops and other business premises pay VAT at the standard rate.
Can I just buy the unit?
Yes. Every unit on this page links to its product page, where you can buy it on its own. A unit sold without installation includes VAT at the standard 20%. Plenty of confident DIYers fit their own, as Scott does in the video.
How does the video survey work?
Once you send the form, we call to book a short video call at a time that suits you. You show us the room and the wall, we explain how the unit works, and then we send you a fitted price. There is no obligation.
What is included in the installation?
Your fitted price covers the unit and its installation: cutting the two wall openings, mounting the unit, testing it and tidying up. Anything unusual, such as a high or very thick wall, is picked up in the survey and priced before you decide.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not, because there is no outdoor unit, just two small grilles on the outside wall. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with your local council before you book.
